Many of our physicians have pursued advanced training beyond the basic anesthesia residency in areas including Cardiac Anesthesia, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Critical Care Medicine.
Our physicians have extensive experience in specific areas of anesthesia including cardiac, thoracic, vascular, neurosurgical, otolaryngologic, electrophysiologic, bariatric, plastic and reconstructive, and complex spinal surgery.
Our physicians offer exceptional strength in advanced anesthesia practice and monitoring techniques such as arterial catheterization, central venous pressure monitoring, pulmonary artery catheterization, anesthesia for neuromonitoring, lung isolation techniques, advanced cardiac anesthesia techniques, and transesophageal echocardiography.
Leadership in Action
Our members seek to be clinical leaders in our field with a focus on excellence. Additionally, we have a demonstrated tradition of administrative leadership that extends beyond our own group to the institutions and organizations we serve. Numerous members of Excel have experience in key service and leadership positions. Examples include: current Department Chairmanships (Dr. Marcel at Baylor Plano Hospital and The Heart Hospital at Baylor Plano; Dr. Nguyen at Methodist Richardson; Dr. Wong at Surgery Center of Richardson); prior Department Chairmanships (Drs. Hoffman, Latson and Russell at Dallas Presbyterian; Dr. Latson at UT Southwestern); past Dallas County Anesthesia Society Presidents (Dr Michelsen, Dr. Wu); current advanced administrative positions (Dr Hoffman at Dallas Presbyterian; Dr. Marcel at Baylor Plano and the Heart Hospital); advanced involvement in the American Society of Anesthesia (Dr. Hoffman); and numerous other examples of advanced service to our institutions.
